Can anyone offer suggestions for adding a secure, on-line store on my existing web site? I don't use the Web Site Builder, but maintain my site with my own HTML editor. I only want to offer perhaps 10 promotional/souvenir items on my site, as well as tickets for site hosted events. Any suggestions for some simple, yet secure?

Hello, Thank you for your question regarding the best site for creating a book store. Since a quarter of all sites on the web are using WordPress, this is the most popular options for building a website at this time. You can make it a functional store by installing the WooCommerce plugin. Thank you, John-Paul

Hello Sunny58,

The question you are asking is unfortunately very broad - meaning that it's not a simple answer. I can try and hopefully point you in the right direction. Simply designing a website can be a college degree these days, so I will simply point out that we do have multiple solutions that involve creating websites very quickly using the Plesk Premium Web Builder, Wordpress or Joomla. Additionally, you are asking about running and creating an ecommerce website that specializes in selling electronic publications. We also offer several ecommerce options that may fit your needs. And there are also a few of them that we don't list that are great for beginners as well. I'll suggest that you look for information on either Opencart or Prestashop. At the end of this post, I will provide you several links at the bottom of this email that will bring you to either Inmotion's suggested resources, or to the home page for the product I'm suggesting.

If you're serious about this endeavor, then you will need to spend some time educating yourself on the basics web design, web hosting, and ecommerce. With your specific hosting plan (that I can see on your account), you are on your way to starting with a small site, and then building it up as your knowledge and your ideas grow.

At the beginning,if you're more interested in letting the website particulars rest with the software you're using, then I would suggest spending some time learning one of the ecommerce packages that are available. Both of the suggestions that I mentioned earlier are free, and can be adapted to sell items like ebooks. You're looking at a higher starting learning curve with the ecommerce packages, but then you also won't have to worry about designing the website using another program.

There are many different approaches to this issue. The others would involve you learning other software, and then learning to integrate your ecommerce business. Or, you can always spend money on the entire website, and have someone else build it for you. We have an excellent web design team in-house.

There isn't really a right or wrong answer here, but I hope this helps to get you pointed in the right direction. Additionally, if you haven't tried it already, type in "How to sell ebooks online" in a search engine. Look for the reputable sources, and you'll soon find that there are MANY publications out there that my guide you in your efforts.

Here are the links that I'm suggesting:

Note: Inmotion Hosting's Support Center also provides a wealth of information on using Joomla, Prestashop, and Opencart.

Hi marlow, Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. Since you dont use the Premium Web Builder, I'd suggest using OpenCart. OpenCart is a free open-source shopping cart solution that's easy to use and requires no coding knowledge whatsoever. We have an entire education channel that will help you set up your store and I'm well versed in OpenCart so if you need any assistance you can always post a question. Since you have an existing website already, I'd suggest installing OpenCart in a subfolder called shop or store and link to it from your main website. That way, it will be independent from your website. It takes me about 4 hours to set up a fully functional store in OpenCart, and depending on your technical knowledge shouldn't take you much longer than that. Here's a link to our education channel that will help you with OpenCart: OpenCart Tutorials If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thanks! Tim S
